I’m a twin mom. She’s a private Chef. Together, we built KATARE


If someone told me a few years ago that I’d be running a home-based food business in Jakarta,I honestly wouldn’t believe it.

 

Not because I didn’t think I could… but because back then, I was a single mom navigating life one day at a time.

Trying to juggle twin schedules, healing from a lot, rebuilding myself quietly, and figuring out what kind of life I wanted for me, and for the girls.


But here we are now.

KATARE Jakarta is real.

Real meat. Real hustle. Real joy.

 

And yes, some days are wild but always full of heart.


 

Meet Arre - The Heart Behind the Heat

I run KATARE Jakarta with my partner, Arre; a private chef in Jakarta with more than a decade of experience in the culinary world.

 

She cooked in professional kitchens, curated private dining experiences, and served some of the most memorable meals to clients across the city.

 

Tapi yang bikin masakan Arre beda itu bukan cuma pengalamannya.

She cooks with her gut. Her heart. Her mood.

Semuanya bold, soulful, and just a little bit chaotic in the best way possible.

 

Arre handles the kitchen.

I handle the big picture and all the moving parts in between.

Together, we bring this Jakarta-based food dream to life.

 

Before KATARE, There Was ROAST 155

Long before KATARE had a name or a following, there was ROAST 155; a solo passion project by my partner, Arre.

 

Waktu itu pandemi. Dunia lagi kacau. Dan Arre, yang waktu itu masih kerja sendiri, mulai masak masak di rumah. It started as a small fire experiment, grilling meat at home to stay creative and sane.

 

Her first drop? Grilled Picañha, a cut that would later become our signature.

Satu orang masak, satu dapur kecil, satu tujuan: making food that feels personal, not just tasty.

 

Quoting from Arre:

          “Sebenernya tuh konsep ROAST 155 itu teknik masak, roasting ingredients di suhu 155 derajat. 155 is the actual temperature for roasting. Tapi angka itu juga punya makna pribadi buat aku, itu tanggal lahir mama. Jadi ada personal touch-nya juga. Tapi nama ROAST 155 itu agak susah ditangkap sama pasar, kurang relatable. Jadi akhirnya kita rebranding.”

 

Fast forward a bit; the flavors got bolder, the menus more playful, and the idea kept growing louder. Eventually, we rebranded.

 

Dan lahirlah KATARE, a Jakarta-born food brand built on flavor, feeling, and fire.

 

Why “KATARE”?

Namanya diambil dari “KATA ARE.”

Karena literally semua yang dijual di sini ya makanan yang Arre suka, both suka masak nya dan suka makan-nya LOL

 

Nggak ada polling. Nggak ada riset pasar.

 

It’s craving-driven, instinct-led.

A flavor-first local food brand.

And strangely enough… it just works.


 

So, What Makes KATARE Special?

Let’s be honest, Jakarta punya banyak banget pilihan daging.

 

Tapi yang bikin KATARE beda bukan cuma soal potongan picañha nya. It’s the feeling.

The smoky aroma when you open the box.

The first bite that makes you stop scrolling, take a breath, and go, “Oh wow, ini enak banget.”

 

Kami enggak jual makanan untuk sekadar kenyang.

We want you to feel something; joy, nostalgia, excitement.

That “slow down and enjoy it” kind of moment.

 

Our menu keeps evolving, but always with the same intention:

Bold, honest flavors that stick with you.

 

Ada picañha, roast chicken, pasta dengan rasa comforting tapi tetap bold.

We also had fun experimenting with limited edition menus, from seafood platters to crispy chicken pokpok (a kid-friendly favorite), even bento boxes perfect for office lunch delivery in Senopati.

 


Being a twin mom, I love when food makes kids happy and grown-ups satisfied.

That’s why sometimes KATARE juga bikin menu-menu kecil yang fun, playful, and full of heart.

Growing a Business While Raising Twins? Yes, It’s Wild.

Being a twin mom is already a full-time circus.

Tambah lagi running a food brand from home? Welcome to the madness. 😂

 

My day usually starts at 5AM; getting the twins ready for school, prepping their snack box / bekal sekolah (most of the time with homemade frozen food Arre prepped earlier), and trying to look alive before the day kicks in.

 

When the kids are at school, it’s full on KATARE (and content creator) mode:

Answering DMs, managing content, dealing with finance, and squeezing in some self-care if I’m lucky.

 

At the time of writing this, I still don’t have a nanny or a helper.

It’s just me, Arre, the girls, my mom (who helps with the twins whenever I need to be out for work), and the KATARE kitchen; a small but mighty setup that somehow keeps everything flowing.

 

Outside of KATARE, I also work professionally as a content creator in Jakarta; managing brand projects, shoots, and edits in between snack breaks, school runs, and the beautiful chaos of raising twins.

 

But honestly? I love this part.

KATARE is not about being perfect.

It’s about being real. And I want my daughters to grow up watching their mama build something with love, trial-and-error, and a whole lot of winging it.

 


From Two Hands to a Small-but-Mighty Team

Today, KATARE is powered by five:

Arre — the one behind the flavor, the fire, and all the magic in the kitchen

Ray (me) — creative lead, the visuals, and all the little things in between

Kitchen Assistant — helps keep our kitchen running

Finance — our numbers brain who keeps things running smoothly

Admin — the person behind every order and reply

 

We’re still home-based, still small, but way more structured (and way less panicked) than when we started.

Growing steadily, cooking with heart, and staying true to the flavor.

 

 

What’s Next for KATARE?

Right now, we’re proudly home-based in Senopati, Jakarta Selatan.

We don’t have a storefront or big investors behind us (yet). Just us, doing our thing from home.

 

Tapi mimpinya?

A cozy dine-in spot someday. Something soulful, smoky, full of flavor and warmth.

 

We’re growing at our own pace.

Just like our grilled picañha, with care: rooted, steady, and full of soul.

 

And yes, we’re open to collaborations and future partnerships, especially the kind that share the same passion and purpose.
